The perfumes that last longest in a UAE summer are the ones built on materials heat cannot burn off in an hour: ambroxan, oud, amber, resins, vanilla and the heavier musks. Light citrus and green notes evaporate fastest at 45°C, so a fragrance that opens fresh needs a base that carries it once the top has gone. The heavy molecules (ambroxan, oud, vanillin, labdanum, sandalwood, musks) evaporate slowly whatever the weather, which is why they are still there at 6pm.
Humidity works differently. Moist air carries scent further, so a fragrance that seems moderate in Al Ain can feel loud in Jumeirah at 80 per cent humidity. Sweat matters too: it dilutes fragrance on skin and adds its own smell, so anything applied where you sweat most (the chest under a shirt, the back of the neck) changes character by mid-afternoon.
Then there is air conditioning. Most of a UAE summer day is spent at 22 to 24°C indoors, in dry, recirculated air that flattens projection. Wild Spirit for the day: why ambroxan wins in heat
Wild Spirit is inspired by Dior Sauvage Eau de Toilette and follows the same arc: Calabrian bergamot and pepper on top, lavender and pink pepper in the middle, then a large ambroxan and cedar base. Ambroxan is the point. It is a clean, slightly salty amberwood material that smells like warm skin, and heat pushes it outward rather than burning it off.
Two sprays at 7am, one on each side of the neck, carries through to the evening commute. The bergamot is gone by the time you reach the office and the pepper by lunch, but the ambroxan stays until you shower. How to make any perfume last longer at 45°C
Spray on moisturised skin. Fragrance evaporates fastest from dry skin, and an unscented lotion five minutes before you spray can add two hours. Spray, do not rub. Rubbing wrists together crushes the top notes and warms the skin. Aim for spots that stay cool. The sides of the neck, behind the ears, the inside of the elbow, the back of the wrist. Avoid the chest under a shirt and the back of the neck, which sweat first.
Use fabric as a second reservoir. One spray on the inside of a shirt collar or the edge of a shayla releases slowly all day, and clothes do not sweat. Test a hidden corner of pale fabric first; darker oud and resin blends can mark white cotton. Carry the bottle and reapply once. One spray at 2pm beats four sprays at 7am, which will only be overpowering in the lift.
Store the bottle cold and dark. A bottle left in a car at 60°C for a week is a different, worse fragrance. Keep it in a drawer or wardrobe, never on a sunlit dressing table.

The most common mistake is buying the strongest fragrance available and applying it as if it were a light one. Six sprays of an oud in August do not last longer than two; they last the same length of time and annoy more people. The second is judging a fragrance by its first ten minutes in a shop.
